Я хотела бы найти коллег по работе, имеющих дело с Лого-мирами. Для нашей школы это нечто новое, но очень хочется начать или хотя бы попробовать работать с Лого. Я знаю, что очень многие учителя имеют опыт работы в этой среде, и я могла бы получить хорошую поддержку и помощь от коллег. Я учитель из города-героя Севастополя. Хотел бы пообщаться с более опытными (или такими же как ) в области преподавания Лого. Интересует всё: методики, находки, интересные уроки и т.д. Буду рад любой информации!

expansion of the American-Philippine Synergistic-Dynamics Project

This note is mainly to Will Costello in Vermont as the most relevant person for present purposes of developing logo contacts between Vermont,
Silliman University in the Philippines, and Russian schools and showing me his projects hopefully.

As a brief background, I recently was involved in a NATO training seminar in Moscow, but my very first contact on the way from airport to Moscow State University was a stop at School 1126, and extraordinary school indeed. Very hi-tech and one of 50 Macintosh demo schools in Europe. Later I made a presentation to some teachers and administrators of the Institute for Technology in Education (maybe I don't have that perfect), or rather I should say they gave me a demo, for no sooner that I started, than they began displaying their own pet logo projects on machines sitting around the room, all of which put mine to shame. Papert has been there, and there is a hotbed of logo activity in Russia. So my feeling was that our schools should be sharing projects with them in some kind of joint venture, an expansion of the American-Philippine Synergistic-Dynamics Project that is still embryonic here and at Silliman University.  There is no reason why you can't use the mailing list for this message to start contacting each other (assuming your headers contain all correspondents).

In the meanwhile, Will, I would like to come and visit your school as soon as possible if you would be willing to show me some of your logo projects, and take me on a tour of some of your linked sites.

Next I would like an expression of opinion if you would like me to expand my grant requests to include the Russian connection (I might mention that one of the faculty of 1126 visited me here in Vermont a couple of weeks ago, but it was rest and relaxation time and we did not pursue the project at that time).

I do intend to write a grant for this project. I will put it as a second request to the Freeman, and probably try NSF and other funding agencies as well. We had some success, especially introducing robotic logo and logo down the the 4th grade, which was my attempt to find out their capabilities, and I discovered they were fantastic. Learned very fast if it was fun oriented.

I understand the Freeman Foundation is no longer pursuing the Act 60 connection, so perhaps they can finally look at our proposal. I do not expect to return to the Philippines until funding is forthcoming from somewhere. Russia is more likely a place to visit if funding is thin as the flight is less expensive. I would hope to get the funding, and make my trip to Silliman via Moscow.

Thanks for your patience. Before Moscow, I was preparing my series of lectures, and since I have been sick a bit, and busy preparing the house and doing finances. My wife just returned today as the summer semester at Silliman just finished.

I am very impressed with what educators are doing in Vermont and Russia, and hope I soon get a chance to have the Philippines catch up. They certainly have bright students who are desirous for the opportunity.

I'd be very supportive of international connections and involvement in the project. Taylor is on sabbatical (probably studying complexity and relativity). Elaine is now a principal and will probably be busy on her doctoral work for a while. I just finished an NSF proposal to use complexity (systems dynamics modeling) in large-scale educational systems - the project has a strong team of modelers and scientists. One concept that we bumped into as we wrote it was the idea of virtual manipulatives, which is connected to LOGO and sharing work perhaps. There is a research group in Utah that has made several math java applets for classroom use (just hit the www site and play around) and I've picked up "AgentSheets" which is a fun agent-based software for modeling that kids can learn quickly. Glad to hear the news Fred! I owe you a call and a nice meal so we can catch up.

Я преподаватель информатики гимназии 1517. У меня 2 часа информатики в 5-6 классах в неделю. Один час я занимаюсь Горячевским курсом а оставшееся время LogoWr. Задачи для Лого я беру из учебника Горячева. Таким образом получается практическое применение теоретического курса.
